Retrospective Analysis of Neck Masses Diagnosed by Histopathology from Chattogram General Hospital

Background: Neck masses are found in all age groups from many causes, ranging congenital to acquired pathology. There is a wide variation the presentation of neck concerning its site origin, clinical presentation, and nature progression disease. This study was performed have an idea about prevalence various according sex so that it would help us diagnosing masses. Materials methods: retrospective Department Otolaryngology Head Surgery, Chattogram General Hospital, July 2018 June 2019, over 97 patients presented with mass. Results: Of cases 69.1% were female range 7-77 years. The maximum case holding group 21- 30 years (26.8%). histopathological diagnosis inflammatory 68 (70.1%), 5 (5.2%) neoplastic 24 (24.7%) cases. Chronic granulomatous lymphadenitis most common lesion (50.5%) branchial cyst mass (2.2%). Neoplastic malignant 10 (10.3%) benign 14 (14.4%) follicular carcinoma (6.2%), goitre (12.4%). Conclusions: Cervical lymphadenopathy commonly encountered Most benign. Out these cervical lymph nodes, tubercular common. JCMCTA 2022 ; 33 (1) : 21-24
